Swinerton Southeast Wins Charitable Giving Competition

Swinerton Southeast scored a volunteering victory!

The team won its size tier in Swinerton’s Fall Giving Challenge, a companywide competition to donate money, time and goods to local social service organizations. The Swinerton Southeast team – Atlanta, Charlotte and Raleigh – reached 100 percent employee participation, volunteered 187 hours and brought in more than $26,000 in contributions, including matching contributions from The Swinerton Foundation.

The accomplishment earns us $20,000 in grants which we will donate to social service organizations within our communities.

Our division’s successful Fall Giving effort is just the latest activity in our continuous focus on positively impacting the communities we live in. Additional community service this year has included:

– Working to preserve and beautify our environment with Keep North Fulton Beautiful, Trees Atlanta, Park Pride, and the Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club.

– An ongoing partnership with Sunshine on a Ranney Day (SOARD) to help renovate homes for children with special needs. We are excited to sponsor and staff two room makeover projects with SOARD in 2019!

– Last summer, we assisted SOARD in putting the finishing touches on a new space at Camp Twin Lakes called the “Zen Den,” which serves as a quiet room and sensory space when a camper needs a calm environment.

– In Atlanta’s backyard of Sandy Springs, we have partnered with the Sandy Springs Community Assistance Center to serve our most vulnerable neighbors through their food pantry and holiday gift program.

The Southeast division efforts are part of Swinerton Cares, our companywide workplace giving and employee engagement program that is sponsored by the Swinerton Foundation. Through this program, we encourage our employees to give and volunteer their time to non-profit organizations.

The Swinerton Foundation utilizes the skills of hundreds of volunteers in more than 40 communities across the United States to help build sustainable cities and neighborhoods by supporting education and development activities, workforce development programs, and community-focused non-profits that help cities thrive. The foundation also serves as a catalyst to encourage and expand the philanthropic endeavors of Swinerton employees by monetarily matching their donations and volunteer hours. 2017 was a record breaking year: with the help of generous donors and incredible volunteers, we distributed over $970,000 and donated over 10,000 hours of our time to non-profits in communities across this country.
