Colorado’s 9th annual Swintoberfest celebrates trade partners and supports local cause

The Colorado Division celebrated its 9th Annual Subcontractor Appreciation Event, affectionately called “Swintoberfest.” The event not only celebrated trade partners with beer and brats in true Oktoberfest fashion, but in the spirit of camaraderie and good cheer, donations were also collected for the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation.

Every Swintoberfest, the Denver office parking lot morphs into a fall festival, decorated with white tents, straw bales, pumpkins and fall mum flowers, complete with giant lawn games. This year Swinerton hosted more than 250 guests, including a steel subcontractor who flew in from out of state just for this event. Swintoberfest has gained so much momentum in the industry that we get calls at the beginning of the year asking for a “Save the Date.”

Now in its third year, the Swinerton Colorado Division’s subcontractor excellence awards program recognizes local trade partners for their outstanding performance in seven categories: Excellence in Complex Construction, Excellence in Quality, Excellence in Partnership, Excellence in Preconstruction, Your Family Needs You – Excellence in Safety, Small Business All Star and Most Valuable Player. The Colorado Division sends out an internal call for nominations in June; entries are then reviewed by a selection panel and winners are announced at Swintoberfest. Every year it gets harder to select the winners, and this year was no exception!

Also continuing last year’s tradition, the division collected 1,134 pairs of socks for the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation to distribute. The Denver Public Library works with a large population of people who are experiencing homelessness and socks are a way to support those in need in the local community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort.

Socks, beer, and recognizing our excellent trade partners? It wouldn’t be Swintoberfest without them!
