Fortune names Swinerton the #11 Best Workplace for Millennials

For the third straight year, Fortune named Swinerton as one of the Best Workplaces for Millennials, ranking Swinerton as the #11 best workplace on the list of 100 companies.

As more and more millennials come to shape the American workforce, Swinerton is particularly proud to have moved up from a #28 ranking last year. Swinerton was once again the only general contractor to make the Top 100 list.

100 percent employee-owned and with offices in 16 locations from coast to coast, over 40% of Swinerton’s workforce are Millennials (up from 35% a year ago). Those employees had great things to say about life at Swinerton, highlighting the integrity, happiness, excitement and sense of purpose of the company and their fellow coworkers.

This is Swinerton’s fifth major recognition from Fortune. In 2016, Swinerton was recognized as #15 of the 30 Best Workplaces to Retire From and #44 of the 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials. In 2017, Swinerton was named the #7 Best Workplace in the Bay Area. In 2018, the company was ranked #28 in Best Workplaces for Millennials.

Fortune’s list of Best Workplaces for Millennials is based on three critical metrics. First, the list is based on how positively Millennials rated their organizations on over 50 different metrics defining great workplaces, such as managers’ competence, respect and fairness in the workplace, opportunities for meaningful work, and great colleagues. Second, Fortune compared Millennials’ survey results to other generations, analyzing an index of factors where Millennials often lag their peers, such as access to meaningful work, fair pay, and plans for a future with their organizations. Finally, Fortune also analyzed demographic patterns to ensure that companies were creating great workplaces for all Millennials, regardless of who they are or what they do for the organization.
