Griffin | Swinerton Selected by Rancho Cordova for Civic Center Project

On July 20, 2020, the Rancho Cordova City Council voted to select the Griffin | Swinerton and Related California team as a partner to develop a 10-acre parcel into a civic center in the City of Rancho Cordova, near Sacramento, CA.  This P3 civic center project will likely include a space for performing/visual arts, recreational and housing space, space to accommodate meetings, and an outdoor area for community gatherings.

“I think this is an important project for the city of Rancho Cordova and we’re excited we now have a selected development partner to move it to the next level,” said Deputy City Manager Michah Runner said to the Sacramento Business Journal. “Part of the Griffin Swinerton model was bringing in the place for public gathering, Runner said. The team’s vision was “really focused on not just building a facility or housing project, but a future gathering place for Rancho Cordova.”

In December 2020, the Griffin | Swinerton development team introduced three alternative concepts for the Mills Crossing Civic Center site in a City Council workshop: a community arts canvas, an innovation hub, and a holistic wellness center. City staff will continue to work with the Griffin | Swinerton team to develop more refined options for the 10-acre parcel.
