As part of Swinerton’s expansion of its self-perform services, Jerry Garcia has joined Swinerton in Austin as Self-Perform Manager.
With nearly 25 years of experience in construction, Jerry is excited about the opportunity to start a self-perform group. He brings extensive, varied background to the position. He started his career as a carpenter apprentice, moved on to foreman and superintendent positions, and in recent years gained experience as a project manager and subcontractor business owner.
“The most rewarding part of my job is having the opportunity to convert buildings from plans in to a reality. The reward is not just being part of a project, it’s also being instrumental at overcoming obstacles or providing a constructability solution that helps us achieve the designer’s intent,” Jerry says.
Outside of work, Jerry enjoys spending time with his wife and children – one of the family’s favorite activities is enjoying a good ATV ride. In his free time, he also likes to talk history and read insightful books.
He’s looking forward to the future of the construction industry in Austin.
“With the expected population growth in Austin, now is a great time to be part of a bottom ramp-up for what’s next here,” he says.
