La Fénix at 1950 (formerly known as 1950 Mission) celebrated topping out this nine-story building on January 10. Swinerton and co-developers BRIDGE Housing and Mission Housing Development Corporation joined more than 170 construction team members to commemorate this milestone. The 157-unit affordable housing development is expected to complete Fall 2020.
“Swinerton is grateful for the partnership we have with this amazing group of developers, designers and subcontractors who have all contributed to us reaching this construction milestone. We look forward to completing the project and providing 100% affordable living to the San Francisco and Mission District communities,” said Shelby Joubert, Swinerton Senior Project Manager.
Planned amenities for residents include a rooftop garden, a courtyard, a community room with kitchen, and a workshop operated by PODER that will provide bike-maintenance training to youth from the property and the surrounding community.
“It is incredibly exciting to reach this milestone. We’re proud to be part of the team that’s delivering affordable homes and community services to the Mission in support of the neighborhood’s vibrancy and diversity,” said Cynthia A. Parker, President and CEO of BRIDGE Housing.
The apartments will be affordable for households with incomes between 45% and 60% Area Median Income, with 25% of the apartments set aside for 40 formerly homeless families.
