NEXT Coalition Wins Construction Dive Magazine’s Top Innovation Prize
Swinerton is proud to be part of a team of contractors who have joined the NEXT Coalition, which recently won Construction Dive’s Innovator of the Year Dive Award. The contractors involved are Black & Veatch, DPR Construction, Haskell, McCarthy Building Companies, Swinerton, Truebeck Construction and Alabama Power. These peer companies have come together to create tech solutions for coronavirus-related challenges. Swinerton is proud to be a part of such a forward-thinking organization
The collaborative nature of this team enables vendors to be more efficient in sharing and refining their offerings. This also allows GC’s to evaluate more solutions and influence the marketplace through shared efforts and ideas.
“As part of its ‘Construction Safety Challenge,’ the coalition announced in September its selection of five pilot projects meant to protect crews against the coronavirus’ challenges. Those projects – chosen from 84 applications and products from 78 companies and startups who responded to a call for coronavirus solutions – include wearable technology for contact tracing and social distancing, digital pre-screening of workers, and smart video monitoring for health and safety. Dozens of other potential products are being vetted by the coalition, and additional submissions are being welcomed,” the Next Coalition advised in its recent press release.

Swinerton’s involvement with the Next Coalition is part of a larger innovation program. The Swinerton Construction Innovations program is a corporate R&D initiative to ensure Swinerton continues to thrive for the next 130 years. The Swinerton program focuses on changing business processes in order to drive substantial reductions in costs while increasing quality and safety of the work we deliver. We believe the key to transformative solutions is changing the process. Applying technology to existing processes only delivers incremental improvement.
