The Swinerton San Diego Team attended the official ground breaking ceremony for the Hotel Del Coronado this week.

Actual work began last fall for the massive $125 million Hotel Del Coronado Shore House Development Project in Coronado, CA. The new development adds to the previously completed north parking structure and laundry building renovation along with the current power plant renovation, ice house historic gallery, and ocean towers renovation – all of which are Swinerton projects as well.

Construction is off to a good start tracking Fall 2021 for completion.

Though the Shore House project is just getting going, extensive earthwork and site utility relocations have been ongoing for the last year. The project scope of work includes a new main entrance to the hotel and 142 new condo-hotel guestrooms with significant conference facilities meant to capture the timeless look of the historic Victorian hotel, with a modern touch. In addition, the project includes extensive hardscape, landscape, water features, and other site amenities.

The project team continues to work closely with ownership and the design team, providing constructability reviews and value engineering to complete the design of the hotel all while maintaining the owner’s budget and schedule. A combination of Swinerton preconstruction and solid subcontractor input will continue throughout construction to create thoughtful and cost-effective solutions to achieve Owner expectations on the project.

Swinerton has been a trusted partner of the Hotel Del Coronado since the late 90s

Swinerton has been fortunate to have been a trusted partner of the hotel since the late 90s through various projects such as the historic renovation, north beach villas, and fitness and spa renovation. The team looks forward to continuing to ensure the project’s success and further strengthen this relationship for years to come.

Many thanks to the project team’s efforts and to the Hotel Del Coronado for the opportunity to be a part of such an iconic addition to a San Diego landmark.
