On May 13, Swinerton was proud to host the grand opening was held at the newly completed Hale Kewalo. Situated just across Hawaii’s largest shopping mall, Ala Moana Center, a crowd gathered at the front entrance of the new building along Piikoi Street for the ribbon cutting. The event was highly publicized, with local news media in attendance along with Hawaii State Officials, Mayor Kirk Caldwell and Governor David Ige. The completion of the Hale Kewalo marks the first project with Honolulu development firm, Stanford Carr Development, known for their fierce commitment to bringing more affordable housing options to Honolulu.
The 12-story structure included 128 affordable rentals with one, two, and three-bedroom units and ample parking space in the building’s two-level parking podium. The Hale Kewalo also features retail spaces on the ground floor along with a community room for public gatherings and activities.
The opening of the Hale Kewalo was well received by the public, which received the arrival of new tenants on the very same week of the Grand Opening. Stanford Carr expressed high praise for Swinerton’s Hale Kewalo team in playing a significant part in helping make the Hale Kewalo possible.
