Congratulations to Swinerton Senior Vice President Don Adair, who was recently honored as the 2014 Good Scout of the Year by the Boy Scouts of America, San Diego-Imperial Council. The annual award recognizes a highly respected member of the community who upholds the principles of the Boy Scouts in every area of their life. It values work ethic, community service, and being a role model to others.
Don was surrounded by family, friends, coworkers, construction professionals, local politicians, and media figures as he was commended for his service to both the industry and the community. Hosted by the construction and building industry, the event is a major fundraiser for local Boy Scout troops. Thanks to the luncheon’s numerous sponsors, over $160,000 was raised for the San Diego-Imperial Council.
Held at the Hyatt Regency in La Jolla, California, more than 300 guests were greeted in the ballroom by Master of Ceremonies Paul Rudy of KUSI. After lunch, Keynote Speaker George Chamberlin of NBC spoke to the crowd about Don’s influence on both people and business, which was emphasized in a tribute video that included testimonials from the many lives he’s touched over the years.
Swinerton Builders San Diego Division Manager Mark Payne spoke highly of Don as he introduced him to the crowd. They were then joined by the Boy Scouts’ San Diego-Imperial Council President Mark Filanc and Boy Scouts of America CEO Tim Thomton, who presented Don his 2014 Good Scout of the Year award. During his thank you speech, Don expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone that has contributed toward his success and this great honor.
The Swinerton family is proud of Don’s accomplishments. Everyone who has worked with him knows this is a well-deserved award. Congratulations, Don! To view the tribute video, visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjyjeGMWEJA
