Swinerton is performing general contracting services for a new 250,000-square-foot ground up addition to a confidential search engine client’s campus in Kirkland, WA. The project will include both the core and shell construction as well as the tenant improvement build out. The building will be constructed with mass timber, and we will be working with our Swinerton affiliated company, Timberlab to complete the mass timber scope of work. The new building will encompass 180,000 square feet of offices, 15,000 square feet of retail/commercial space; four levels of underground parking with 300 stalls; and 115 bike stalls within the garage’s mezzanine level, which is partly at grade. The build will be the largest mass timber project on the Eastside and possibly in the Puget Sound region. The project is targeting LEED Gold certification with solar panels planned for the rooftop, along with many green features including water recycling, no use of fossil fuels, “building microclimates,” rooftop plantings, and high-performance windows.
