Phase 2 of South San Francisco’s Community Civic Campus project consists of a new Library and Recreation Center and 1.5 acres of sitework developed for public use.

The new Center will house a new Library, the Parks & Recreation Center and Community Theater in +/- 82,500 square feet at a single location. The building will highlight innovation in design and reflect 21st century thinking of multi-functional, multi-user, interactive facilities.

The Parks & Recreation areas include a generous 5,500 square foot hall as well as a strong complement of small, medium, and large classrooms and exercise and dance spaces. All portions of the building will include enhanced internet capabilities including various opportunities to harness advancing electronic technologies.

The new Library will have +/- 39,000 square feet of collections and spaces for quiet study as well as one-on-one tutoring. A Library Discovery Center will include a multi-purpose program room, makerspace, technology lab, and flexible meeting rooms.

A large Hub or welcome space will be an inspirational center of the facility, and it will also double as a gathering spot for small lectures, receptions, and gallery space.

A Community Theater will be built to serve both as a performance space and a City Council Chambers that accommodates community education and public interaction at City Council meetings and Community Town Hall gatherings.
