Christie’s, founded in 1766 by James Christie, is expanding its presence on the West Coast in response to growing demand among LA-area collectors for greater access to buying and selling opportunities as well as fine art advisory and appraisal services. With new concrete footings, structural steel framing, and new exterior walls to incorporate the building’s high-end redesign, the new two-story flagship building repurposed its previous retail space, an existing single-story building. Wrapped in a pearlescent white panel system, the building features a new 20-foot wide entry with 14-foot operable Orama glass doors that not only serve as an entry and entertaining space but also as a loading area.

The scope included a new elevator, HVAC Equipment, wet bar, and interior stair with cove pocket lighting that leads to a 1,400-square-foot roof-top mezzanine and additional interior meeting space. This terrace on the second level creates a unique open space with greenery that can double as programmable outdoor event space. The main floor features a large showroom space with radius corners along with private offices and salesrooms. The gallery has a grand yet flexible layout for hosting exhibitions, social events, and educational programs.
