Swinerton provided preconstruction and general contracting services, including self-performing the drywall and concrete scopes, for the Cherry Avenue interim supportive housing community—a collaboration with DignityMoves, the City of San Jose, and Valley Water, designed to provide safe, dignified shelter for 136 individuals—prioritizing unhoused people from nearby encampments. This 83,800-square-foot development features 130 modular living units and offers a comprehensive suite of amenities to support residents on their path to stability.
In addition to private living spaces, the community includes 48 standard and 4 accessible parking spaces. Residents benefit from a range of onsite resources and amenities, such as dining facilities, restrooms, showers, laundry, case management offices, counseling services, recreational areas, and computer labs. These services are designed to foster a supportive environment and help residents transition to permanent housing.
