Swinerton Strengths Spokane Roots with New Office
Innovation-inspired building selection and design provide opportunities for growth.
Swinerton Builders (Swinerton), a national-leading general contractor and construction management firm, has moved into a new office at the Scott Morris Center for Energy Innovation (Morris Center) in the South Landing development. Michael Sharapata with JLL represented Swinerton, while Allie Teplicky represented Emerald Initiative in inking the lease, which includes the entire fourth floor of the four-story, 40,000-square-foot building.
The Morris Center, known for integrating advanced technology to enhance the tenant experience, including greater indoor environment quality, attracted Swinerton to the building. Its proximity to Spokane’s downtown core and focus on modernizing the built environment aligned with Swinerton’s vision and values.
“Our search for Swinerton’s new Inland Northwest home led us to just that, a home away from home,” states Jeremiah Shakespeare, Swinerton vice president and Inland Northwest division manager. “Selecting a location where innovation and creativity are a part of the building’s DNA was important to our growing team. As we continue to experience steady growth, we are optimistic that our new office and award-winning culture will attract the best talent in the region and beyond.”
Partnering with BCRA Design, the new office space is inspired by innovation, collaboration and flexibility and expresses the unique culture of Swinerton’s Inland Northwest division. The space features warm, natural finishes, including touches of cross-laminated timber, and hosts a variety of gathering and meeting spaces. A standout feature is the use of Armstrong World Industries’ new Ultima® Templok® Energy Saving ceiling panels. The panels align with Swinerton’s commitment to sustainability by promoting energy efficiency and ensuring occupant comfort, wellness and productivity while preserving architectural design integrity. The firm is one of the first to pilot the system.
Swinerton has been deeply involved in shaping the Inland Northwest built environment, delivering $250 million in commercial projects specializing in aviation, civic, education, gaming, healthcare, hospitality, and office ground-up and renovations. They have also been identified as a market leader in preconstruction services and alternative delivery and for having the unique ability to provide local and national expertise in those areas as well as development, public-private partnerships (P3) and design-build approaches to the most challenging projects.
“We are thrilled to enter a new chapter of customer service, collaboration and partnering in our new office space,” continues Shakespeare. “Our goal was to create an environment that feels like home. In an era when many people work from home, we want those who don’t go to the office every day to feel welcome to work, learn and be a part of our culture. Exciting times are coming, and we are eager to solve the region’s most challenging construction projects with friends–old and new.”
