Construction begins for student housing at Long Beach City College
$127-million project will include 431 students beds
Construction is underway on a new student housing complex at Long Beach City College’s Liberal Arts Campus, a milestone project that will bring much-needed on-campus housing to students while enhancing the campus experience. According to Urbanize Los Angeles, the $127 million development will deliver 431 student beds within a 93,000-square-foot, four-story building featuring a mix of studio, single-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, along with shared kitchens, meeting spaces, lounges, and laundry facilities.
Swinerton is part of the project team delivering the new residence hall alongside AC Martin. The development will feature a mass timber structural system and a central courtyard designed to support student well-being and community building. Funded through Measure LB and Measure AC, the project is expected to be completed by Fall 2028, expanding affordable housing opportunities for Long Beach City College students while supporting the institution’s long-term campus growth plans.
