Swinerton provided general contracting services for the construction of a new, 60-unit, housing development. The apartment building is located on .87 acres and features 1,200 square feet of ground level retail and an outdoor community garden for residents to grow fruit and vegetables. The building’s location is accessible to many forms of public transportation. The development was delivered in partnership with Tapestry Development Group and Good Places in support of the Atlanta region’s much-needed, low-income housing options.  This property was developed on land formerly owned by College Park First United Methodist as part of their strategic plan to provide surplus land around their church for community development. The four-story building features one- and two-bedroom homes available at below market rate. Diamond College Park is one component of Ion College Park, a public-private partnership between The City of College Park and the historic First United Methodist Church built on approximately one acre of the church’s land at 3726 E Main St. Funded through Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) with RBC Capital as investor and Chase Bank as the lender, Diamond College Park was designed by Foley Design Associates according to National Green Building Standards. The development integrated several cost-efficient and environment-preserving features while also incorporating aspects of the community’s culture, featuring several murals from local artists.
