Remembering Charles “Rick” Moore, Vice President and Director of Community Relations 1952-2023
Former Vice President And Director Of Community Relations
Please join us in remembering long time Swinerton team member Charles “Rick” Moore who passed away on August 12, 2023. Rick began his career with Swinerton in November of 1981 with our San Francisco Building Group. Early in his career Rick became an advocate for helping minority contractors to gain opportunities in the commercial building arena in both Northern and later Southern California. Originally an avocation alongside his other duties, these endeavors later evolved into more structured community outreach efforts by Swinerton. Rick was passionate about the importance of diversity in our industry and his efforts in broadening Swinerton’s community involvement formed the foundation of our robust Community Relations efforts today.
He Made A Difference For So Many
Rick worked tirelessly to establish relationships within the communities where Swinerton lives and works as well as with national minority contracting and advocacy groups. He was passionate about leveling the playing field for emerging subcontractors and identifying opportunities for broader participation in our industry. He was also a champion of broadening the diversity of our own ranks, both in management and in the field, and enriched our labor force and helped our teams to see the value in an inclusive perspective.
Rick retired in 2019 as our Director of Community Relations and we are grateful to continue to be the recipients of his efforts to position Swinerton as our best possible self in our communities. In his honor, Swinerton has made a contribution to the National Association of Minority Contractors who inducted Rick as a Hall of Fame member in 2013. We are pleased to continue to support their ongoing outreach work in our industry and to also have this opportunity to highlight the lifetime contributions of a team member who made a difference for so many.
