Spotlight on Jose Acosta
Project Executive for the Long Beach Airport Terminal Improvements Project
Q: Please tell us about your background.
A: I Graduated in 2005 from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston Massachusetts and I have been in the construction industry for 17 years, focusing on the Aviation. My current role at Swinerton is Project Executive.
Q: Can you tell us about your role in the Phase II program at Long Beach Airport?
A: My role as the project executive is to oversee all aspects of the project and ensure that Long Beach Airports needs are met. I ensure that we have the proper support and resources to complete the project through Design, Preconstruction, and Construction. I work closely with the project manager and superintendents who lead out field team as well as our self-preform teams.
Q: What part of the project are you most excited about?
A: The most exciting part of this project will be opening day because we get a chance to see how the passengers and airport employees use and enjoy the space. This is phased delivery so the upcoming ticketing and CBIS opening in 2022 is very exciting.
Q: You’ve worked on a number of large construction projects. What do you enjoy most about working at LGB?
A: What I enjoy the most of working at Long Beach Airport is its people. The Airport staff and construction manager have played a huge role in the success of the project and developing a one team atmosphere and approach.
