Swinerton Welcomes Future Builders: SkillsUSA National Signing Day
Swinerton is proud to announce that three standout students—Bryan Merino, Valdemar Santibanez, and Jaime Torres—have joined our team in the Charlotte area, following their recognition at SkillsUSA’s National Signing Day. This event, supported by the Lowe’s Foundation, celebrates their commitment to careers in skilled trades, a crucial field facing a significant talent shortage.
Merino, Santibanez, and Torres, all graduates of Independence High School, were honored for their dedication to the construction industry. Merino’s early inspiration came from working alongside his father, while Santibanez and Torres were motivated by their own family experiences and high school carpentry classes.
Their acceptance of full-time positions with Swinerton highlights our commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals. This aligns with the industry’s pressing need, as nearly 90% of contractors report difficulties in finding skilled workers, and over half a million additional workers are estimated to be needed by 2024.
The Lowe’s Foundation’s Gable Grant program, which has invested over $18 million to date, supports this initiative by funding training programs and educational resources. The SkillsUSA National Signing Day celebrated these students’ achievements with new tools and gear, marking their entry into the workforce.
As these new hires embark on their careers with Swinerton, we’re excited to see their contributions to building and maintaining essential infrastructure. This partnership reflects our ongoing dedication to investing in and developing the skilled trades talent of tomorrow.
