Liz Hawkins Promoted to Operations Manager of San Diego Special Projects
Swinerton is proud to announce a key leadership change in San Diego, with Liz Hawkins promoted to Operations Manager. In her new role, Liz will oversee Special Projects, which focuses on small to midsize projects, interior renovations, tenant improvements, and a multitude of other unique and specialized project types in San Diego.
“I’ve spent the majority of my career working in Special Projects. I love the challenge this market brings with complex project types such as life sciences and biotech, and the ample opportunities for solutions to working in occupied spaces, fast-track projects, complicated logistics, and multiple stakeholders,” said Liz Hawkins, Operations Manager. “I’m excited to undertake this new opportunity and continue to help Swinerton not only build great projects, but great partnerships.”
Liz began her career in the industry in 2004 and joined Swinerton in 2007 as an estimator, progressing quickly in roles from estimating and preconstruction to the operations side as Project Manager and subsequently Project Executive.
In her tenure, she has been involved with hundreds of construction projects totaling more than $1 billion and played a key role in the growth and success of Special Projects in San Diego, overseeing many healthcare and tenant improvement projects for repeat clients such as Qualcomm, Sharp Healthcare, UC San Diego, SDSU, SDG&E, USS Midway, General Atomics, and many others.
“Liz has continually succeeded in leading our project teams and developing and fostering excellent relationships with Swinerton’s clients, often resulting in repeat work,” said Mark Payne, Vice President and San Diego Division Manager. “Liz played a key role in Swinerton’s entry into the Life Sciences/Science and Technology market and has been a driving force in growing Swinerton’s San Diego Special Projects group into annual revenues exceeding $100 million.”
Liz stays connected in the industry through organizations including ASHE, NAIOP, AGC, Biocom, ISPE, and DBIA. A certified Designated Design-Build Professional by the Design Build Institute of America, Liz is a passionate advocate of the design-build process and seeks to share her knowledge whenever possible. She is also a LEED Accredited Professional committed to high quality, sustainable projects.
