Fremont High School Outdoor Classroom Project

Adopted in conjunction with the Architecture & Engineering Senior Capstone class, volunteers meet with students bi-weekly to design, budget, and schedule a renovation project to convert an existing deck into a multi-purpose outdoor classroom. Construction is slated to begin in 2018.
Oakland High School Compost Bin Project
Oakland, California
Adopted as an after-school club, volunteers met with students bi-weekly to teach that about the many facets of the construction industry. During the third semester of the program, students designed and built compost bins for the environmental science class’s garden.
La Center High School Climbing Tower Project
La Center, Washington
Adopted as an after-school club and offered as a half-credit, volunteers meet with students bi-weekly to finance, design, and schedule a 40’ climbing tower project to be added to the school’s existing challenge course. Construction is slated to begin in 2018.
Resilient Communities
We believe in supporting community-focused non-profits that help cities thrive—by making them inclusive, safe, healthy, resilient, and sustainable.
Through our Community Building Program, The Swinerton Foundation partners with local non-profits across the United States to provide assistance — by giving opportunities to community members to access homeownership and by preventing displacement for those who cannot afford home repairs.
Disaster Relief
Unexpected catastrophes leave communities at their most vulnerable. That is why we partner with organizations in recovery and rebuilding efforts following natural disasters, war, and civil unrest.
American Red Cross
In 2017, the Foundation donated over $40,000 to the American Red Cross to provide immediate relief efforts for those affected by the Mexico Earthquake, California Wildfires, and Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
Rebuilding Together
The Foundation partners with Rebuilding Together affiliates across the country to assist with home and non-profit repairs following natural disasters.
Habitat for Humanity
Following disasters, the Foundation works closely with Habitat for Humanity to assist with rebuild efforts.
Environment
Risks to our environment are a concern of not the few, but the many.
We partner with non-profit agencies to address these risks and look for opportunities to conserve resources and enhance natural capital.
Through our Park Service Program, we partner with local, state, and national parks to preserve and protect land and natural resources. Our volunteers support restoration and clean-up initiatives to ensure parks remain a place all community members can enjoy.

Sustainable Workforce
We support workforce development programs that provide access to and assist individuals in obtaining living-wage jobs. We support education and development activities that give individuals a greater opportunity to thrive.
