Construction of a new Pre-K through fifth grade replacement school built while the existing school remained occupied. The new facility is part of the District’s new “Exemplar Schools” program that is designed around collaborative, student-centric learning and project-based activities.

Groups of three to five classrooms are configured around collaborative learning and project labs, with team planning areas located on each level. A key to the design is openness with many interior learning spaces visually connected to each other and the outdoor environment, which includes an amphitheater,vegetable garden and age-appropriate play areas. While not seeking LEED Certification, the project is designed and built to meet LEED requirements and is Net Zero Ready – meaning with the addition of photovoltaic panels the renewable energy produced on site will be roughly equal to the amount of energy required annually.
