Swinerton provided general contracting services for the tenant improvement at MINA Charter School of Lee County. The kindergarten to sixth grade school was remodeled to include 25 classrooms, a recreation area, cafeteria, restrooms, and offices. Exterior improvements included new windows and storefront openings cut into the exterior throughout the building.

Since most work occurred during the school year, the project team coordinated with the school to to keep all students, teachers, and faculty safe through construction and minimize the impact on the school schedule. This safety plan included  a clear delineation between the existing and new space by hard temporary dividing walls. Construction entrances and exits were separate, and there was no mix between construction and school staff/students. The project’s superintendent was also in constant communication with the school administration for daily activities.
