The new 89,000-square-foot Wingspan Event Center replaces event facilities on the County’s Fairgrounds that were deemed structurally unsound. The conference center utilizes a mass timber CLT “butterfly roof”, along with mass timber CLT structures over galleries and circulation. The main exposition hall utilizes mass-trusses and structural steel to achieve the longer spans required. The exposition hall can house 200 trade show booths, while also housing four conference rooms, three meeting rooms, offices, and concession areas with a commercial kitchen. The spacious interior is complemented by a large entry plaza adjacent to the lobby, along with an outdoor exhibit area on the west that opens into the interior grounds of the Fair Complex. Work also included a new 342-stall parking lot and a new 148-stall parking lot. The lots required the development of three new vehicular street entrance and exit points.
