ENR recently released its top 25 Newsmakers for 2020. Swinerton‘s Senior Director Technology & Innovation, Eric Law was chosen to be part of this prestigious list.  He was chosen based on his exciting work with construction innovation: Mixed Robots, Reality Capture and Data Analysis for Better Work Progress Tracking.

Law combined an idea from Avvir, an image, and scan data analysis firm, and Boston Dynamics’ robotic dog, Spot, that provides automated site roaming capabilities.  The goal of the pilot project was to reduce payment times to subcontractors from weeks to days.

In addition to this pilot, Swinerton’s Innovation team led by Eric Law is well along on running trials of five or six other experimental workflows this year. Raffi Holzer, CEO of Avvir, was quoted in the ENR article on January 20, 2021, “I don’t think technology in this industry can change it by itself.  We have to find the change agents who are there to take advantage of [technology.]”
