Hawaii Volunteers for Habitat for Humanity’s Wahine Build

Honolulu Habitat for Humanity’s Wahine Build united more than 125 female volunteers to build and advocate for safe and affordable housing on Oahu. Across five weekends, a team of Swinerton Hawaii women helped construct a two-bedroom home in Waimanalo and raised funds for the development of new, affordable homes.
With support from The Swinerton Foundation and various volunteer fundraisers, sponsors, and community partners, Wahine Build was able to raise more than $80,000 to continue building and repairing affordable homes in our community and support the local housing programs.
The build day was a special event for the Swinerton women. They completed the caulking of finishes on the exterior of the home as well as multiple interior finishes on the home’s framing. The home is slated to be completed and turned over to the new homeowners this summer.
As women in our industry, we are pledging to take action in meaningful movements to build strong, stable communities and continue to advocate for safe, affordable housing here on our islands. Staying true to our commitment to the communities where we build, there is nothing more gratifying than giving back to those in need. We are women who believe that everyone deserves a decent place to call home. We are women who know our own potential to improve our communities. We are women who are not afraid to roll up our sleeves and BE the change.
