Hale Kewalo is an 11-story, 170,000-square-foot affordable rental apartment building located in Honolulu’s Ala Moana area. The new apartment complex includes 128 affordable rental units that feature one, two, and three-bedroom options for tenants earning between 30 percent and 60 percent of Honolulu’s area median income. The building is equipped with solar hot water and energy-efficient appliances and air conditioning. Each unit contains a full kitchen with quartz countertops, a stainless-steel sink, and Whirlpool refrigerator, range and range hood. Kitchen floors achieve a hardwood look by utilizing vinyl planks, while living areas and bedrooms have berber carpet, offering residents modern style accommodations. Bathrooms have solid-surface countertops and vinyl floors. Air-conditioning units were installed in the living/kitchen area and in each of the bedrooms.
The new affordable rental apartment building includes retail space on the ground floor along with a community room for public gatherings and activities. Hale Kewalo will also provide tenants with ample parking, which includes a two-level parking podium containing 77 stalls with back of house function.
