Swinerton NorCal Team Partners with City Build SF to support Home Free Program from Five Keys School.
Our Swinerton NorCal Team was proud to partner with CityBuild San Francisco to support the Home Free Program from FiveKeys School. Our donation and materials were used to create a peaceful home and oasis for 11 female domestic violence survivors. Swinerton, with Rebuilding Together San Francisco, organized the “She Builds” build day for the new facility on Treasure Island, and rolled up their sleeves to help with landscaping work the day of the project.
“We were honored to be able to take part in the event this past weekend.” Said Miquel Penn, Swinerton’s Northern California Regional Community Relations Liaison. “Seeing Swinerton building materials be used for such a great cause that empowers women to take back their lives was a memorable day.”
Along with providing housing for domestic violence survivors, the Home Free Program will include recovery from trauma, survivor empowerment, job training, financial and computer literacy and housing assistance within a supportive peer community. They are providing the practical and emotional support needed as the women take their first steps toward determining their own future.
“It’s a place of safety,” Tammy Garvin, the FiveKey’s space designer said in a recent CBS Local news article. “Something so new and refreshing that we could just breathe.”
Swinerton has long been dedicated to positively impacting our industry, our communities, and our employees. We believe in building better responsibly, and we do so through our commitment to economic and workforce development, philanthropy, safety, health and wellness, innovation, collaboration, and ensuring we are environmentally conscious in all of our operations. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is not merely a department; it is the very DNA of our organization.
Volunteers and contributors included CityBuild and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, Mithun Architects and the Academy of Art University.
Thank you to all who participated in this incredible “women helping women” event.
