Andrew Pearl on streets of New York City accepting Building Design and Construction 40 under 40 Award

Andrew Pearl Named to Building Design + Construction 40 Under 40 Class of 2021

Andrew Pearl, Vice President, Division Manager-Northeast Region at Swinerton, has been named as one of Building Design + Construction 40 Under 40 honorees. Recognized alongside other AEC stars from across the country who are making their mark in business, philanthropy, and in their communities,  Andrew was selected for his noteworthy contributions to the built environment and for opening Swinerton’s first New York office, five years earlier than the company had originally planned (Andrew is a native of Mountain Lakes, NJ).

Andrew was unwavering in his vision and career goal (for over a decade) to return home to the Northeast and open the first New York City office in the San Francisco-headquartered firm’s 133rd year of business. His steadfast determination and backing of his 100% employee-owned organization proved to the nation the “self-assuredness” required during a year-long global pandemic to stay the course and open in New York City in June 2021, when many companies had scrambled to leave to other states.

Swinerton has ambitious plans to target corporate interiors in the NYC Market, despite the uncertainty over the future of offices during the pandemic.  Against what has been reported about time after time that for many, New York City has been hardest hit during the onset of the coronavirus and urban centers are not a destination of choice, Swinerton feels differently—we are in a “New York State of Mind.” Swinerton and Andrew believe this is the firm’s opportunity to break into New York City and bring a century of knowledge, services, employee-owned thought process to the region. The exact type of dedication required to make it in the Big Apple. It’s part of a well though-out, segmented approach to the market.  Swinerton, Andrew and the New York City team will initially focus on corporate interiors, a segment Andrew believes is both rife for reconfiguration right now and a great seeding ground for further expansion.

Andrew holds M.S. Construction Management degree from the Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California.
