Inglewood Approves $261M Public-Private Partnership to Ease Congestion Around Venues
The Inglewood Transit Connector (ITC) Phase 1 project is a $261 million public-private partnership designed to improve mobility around Inglewood’s sports and entertainment district, including SoFi Stadium and the Intuit Dome. Elevate Inglewood Development Company (EIDC), led by Plenary Americas, was selected to deliver the project, with Swinerton serving as the design-build contractor and Walter P. Moore as architect of record. Scheduled to break ground in November, Phase 1 includes dedicated shuttle and bus lanes, three parking and mobility hubs, a pedestrian bridge over Florence Avenue, intelligent transportation systems, and a range of streetscape and pedestrian improvements. The project is designed to enhance transportation access while supporting future transit expansion in the city.
As design-build contractor, Swinerton is helping deliver infrastructure that accommodates both current transportation needs and a future automated people mover system. The project includes more than 1,000 new parking stalls, a pedestrian connection to the Metro K Line’s Downtown Inglewood Station, and facilities planned to preserve flexibility for future transit development. The team incorporated preservation requirements for the future automated people mover into the design from the outset, positioning key infrastructure, utilities, and structural elements to support future integration while minimizing impacts to the facilities being constructed today.
