Swinerton and BRIDGE Housing Raise $100k to Support 2019 San Francisco Housing Bond
Swinerton, the #1 General Contractor in California as ranked by ENR CA, is proudly united with non-profit and seasoned development partner BRIDGE Housing on a campaign to bring awareness to the housing crisis in San Francisco and fundraise to support Proposition A, the San Francisco Housing Bond on the November ballot. This bond was added to the City’s Capital Plan; previously there was no Affordable Housing Bond scheduled for any upcoming election.
“Swinerton and BRIDGE Housing share a passion for building better communities and similar values that put people first in everything we do,” said Terry McKellips, Vice President of Swinerton. “The passage of this bond is an important step in accelerating the goal to house the Bay Area and address the needs of our growing region.”
This campaign highlights Swinerton’s ongoing commitment to building affordable housing across the U.S. with an emphasis on high-density urban cities. Swinerton is proud to be building 1950 Mission Street for low-income and formerly homeless families in San Francisco’s Mission District. The firm has a long history partnering with private and non-profit affordable housing organizations, such as BRIDGE Housing, Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, Mission Housing Development Corporation, Mission Economic Development Agency, and Mercy Housing California. Swinerton believes that affordable housing improves communities and helps cities thrive by making them inclusive, safe, healthy, resilient, and sustainable.
“Imagine a San Francisco where seniors, teachers, and veterans can afford to stay and thrive,” said Cynthia A. Parker, President & CEO of BRIDGE Housing. “This bond will create more than 2,800 homes in four years and strengthen our community for generations to come.”
The 2019 San Francisco Housing Bond will be on the November ballot. Swinerton and BRIDGE Housing will be hosting an event September 30 at Chambers at the Phoenix Hotel to continue to bring awareness and raise funds to support the bond. The event program will feature remarks from Mayor London N. Breed, Board of Supervisors President Norman Yee, and representatives from Swinerton and BRIDGE Housing.
