Congratulations to the City of Salinas, Anderson Brulé Architects, and Griffin | Swinerton on this award!
The new Salinas Public Library branch, El Gabilan, replaces the former 3,200-square-foot facility. The 21,000-square-foot library was designed to capture the imagination and inspire a love of lifelong learning, including:
Space for more books, music and videos. The new children’s area is larger than the previous area.
Dedicated space for children’s storytimes and playgroups.
A separate space for teens, allowing for study in small groups as well as providing a safe space for teens to socialize and access arts and technology resources.
An outdoor learning and play space to connect children with nature and the environment.
A makerspace and digital arts lab offering classes that will connect teens and adults to careers in technology and the arts.
A large community room and outdoor program space where families can attend programs, concerts, and celebrations together.
